Educational Philosophy

 Educational Background

I have been an educator for more than 20 years!! I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in 1987, from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, and received my teaching credential from California State University at Long Beach. I started teaching elementary school in 1991, in California, and have since taught in both Maine and Colorado as well.

I taught 5th and 6th grades for 7 years in the early 1990s, then took 17 years off from full time teaching in order to raise my own children. For 11 of those 17 years, I substitute taught in DCSD in both Elementary and Middle School. Most of those substitute  teaching years were spent teaching Project Wild (a supplemental nature and science curriculum in DCSD). I even homeschooled my children for one year so that we could travel and be free of the school calendar!

I returned to full time teaching in 2014 in a 5th grade classroom at Legacy Point in Parker. I've spent the last 4 years teaching at Cimarron on Team Shire and Team Morgan, and Team Aztec!  I cannot wait to meet the new Aztec students in August!

Personal Life

I have a wonderful family and love spending time with them. My husband and I have been married for 23 years and live in Franktown. He is a pilot for United Airlines (Airbus 320) and a retired Commander in the US Navy Reserves.

All three of our children are currently in college. Abby, 19, is a sophomore at Colorado State University.  Josh, 21, is also at CSU as a junior.  Our oldest, Emily, 22, will be completing her 2nd senior year at the University of Wyoming and graduating this summer!

We all love hiking, playing tennis, kayaking, paddle-boarding - just about anything outdoors, especially if it's near a lake! The highlight of our summer was a family trip to Lake of the Ozarks for the 4th of July!
